Stop Violence In The Sex Trades Act

This bill amends statutes so that consenting adults who trade sex or patronize adult sex workers will not be criminalized.

Safe Haven For Trans Youth & Families

S8842(Holyman)/A10138(Bronson)

Prohibits consideration of a law of another state that authorizes a child to be removed from their parent or guardian based on the parent or guardian allowing their child to receive gender-affirming care in custody cases; prohibits law enforcement agencies from cooperating with or providing information to any individual or out-of-state agency or department; prohibits the issuance of a subpoena in connection with certain out-of-state proceedings relating to seeking health or related information about people who come to New York to receive gender-affirming care; prohibits the arrest of a person for performing or aiding in the lawful performance of gender-affirming care within this state; prohibits insurance providers from taking adverse action against a healthcare provider who provides gender-affirming care.

The Gender Identity Respect, Dignity, and Safety Act (GIRDS)

This bill relates to the treatment and placement of incarcerated individuals based upon gender identity; requires that incarcerated individuals in state and local correctional facilities who have a gender identity different from their assigned sex at birth be addressed and have access to commissary items, clothing and other materials that are consistent with the person's gender identity; establishes that incarcerated individuals shall be presumptively placed in a correctional facility with persons of the gender that most closely aligns with such person's self-attested gender identity unless the person opts out of such placement.

New York State Equal Rights Amendment -  Passed & moving on to 2024 Ballot

A state constitutional amendment that creates new protections in our constitution against discrimination based on a person’s ethnicity, national origin, disability, and sex — including sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes, and reproductive health care and autonomy.

Expanding the Lorena Borjas Transgender & Non-Binary Wellness & Equity Fund

This year, we are committed to working diligently to expand the statewide Fund towards a direction that has the capacity to address the overwhelming social disparities faced by TGNCNBI people, including high rates of unemployment, food insecurity, mental health concerns, unstable housing, and more.

REPEAL STI Discrimination Act

A bill to decriminalize sexual activity of people living with STI's. By repealing Public Health Law 2307, New York would join 12 other states that have either repealed or amended HIV criminalization laws.

The LGBT Long-Term Care Facility Bill of Rights

This bill ensures that LGBTQ+ elders in long-term care facilities are protected from discrimination by requiring staff who interact with residents to be trained on the best practices for caring for LGBTQ+ older people.

Save NYs Safety Net: Repeal The 340B Medicaid Carveout

Relates to temporarily exempting covered entities under the federal 340B program and comprehensive HIV special needs plans.

Comprehensive Sex Education

Requires inclusive and comprehensive sexual health education for students in grades K-12.

Intersex Education Bill

AB7527(Seawright)

Requires the department of health to conduct a public information and outreach campaign on medically unnecessary treatments on persons born with intersex traits or variations in sex characteristics.

Good Cause Eviction

Requires landlords to justify rent hikes greater than 3% (or 150% of the Consumer Price Index) and gives tenants the power to challenge evictions that are arbitrary, retaliatory, or discriminatory. 

Housing Voucher Access Program

Sets up a statewide rental subsidy program for low-income New Yorkers who are homeless, facing eviction, or at risk of losing their housing because of domestic violence or hazardous living conditions.

Modern Families Act

S9280(Holyman)/A10523(Gonzalez-Rojas)

This bill relates to allowing confirmatory adoption and parentage judgements for a child with more than two parents and recognizes functional parents as legal parents, allows "de facto parents" to get a court order confirming their parentage and grants all legal parents standing to seek visitation or custody of their children.

Clean Slate Act

S211(Myrie)/A1029(Cruz)

Provides for automatic sealing of certain convictions after a certain passage of time from either imposition of sentence, release from parole or probation, and if the defendant does not have a current charge pending; excludes certain offenses; permits access by certain persons.
